Tip: When choosing centerpieces, keep proportion in mind. Match the size of the flowers to the vase, and the size of the arrangement to the place it's going. (Example: Centerpieces for the table should be low enough so that guests can talk to each other over them.)
Mums are on display almost everywhere during the fall months. They can often be seen in gardens, as blooming potted plants and in cut flower arrangements. Chrysanthemums are frequently used during Thanksgiving celebrations. Below is an arrangement used with Chrysanthemums for a thanksgiving centerpiece.
The name Chrysanthemum is derived from the Greek words, chrysos (gold) and anthos (flower) also known as "Mums". The flower occur in various forms, and can be daisy-like, decorative, pompons or buttons. The flower symbolism associated with the chrysanthemum is abundance, wealth, cheerfulness, optimism, truth (white), hope, rest and wonderful friendship, I love (red), slighted love (yellow).
Well time is closing in on us… The holidays are approaching quickly! We have exactly one more week before Thanksgiving Day and the “official” day of the holiday season. Thanksgiving is spent with family and friends enjoying each other’s company over a huge dinner, with all kinds of great foods from stuffed and fried turkeys to mexican cornbread to the sweet smelling aroma of grandma’s apple pies, peach cobblers and sweet potato pies… But, Thanksgiving is the time to give thanks and praise to God for his many blessings and mercies that he has given us thus far! We shouldn’t just celebrate on Thanksgiving, but every day we awake and breathe God’s air! What are you grateful for?
